A long-awaited wish come true for cab drivers in Vancouver.
City Council has passed a motion to allow taxis in bus lanes on a trial
basis.
Carolyn Boyer with Yellow Cabs says the motion recognizes taxis as a vital part of the transportation system in Vancouver, "We get a lot of complaints: not being able to get people moved around fast enough, people call, they need a taxi in a hurry, we get them a taxi, they're stuck in traffic, we need to get moving, we're going to keep it moving now."

Boyer says the public must remember taxis will not be able to stop and drop people off in bus lanes so as to keep the traffic flowing.
The city will monitor a four to five week trial run before cabs will have full access to the bus lanes.
